Maureen O’Connor is a Dancer, Dance Educator, Performer, Choreographer, Percussionist, Musician, Integrative Nutrition Health Coach [IIN graduate 2024], Fiber artist and Collage artist.

Maureen started her dance training at the age of 4 with Tony Award winning choreographer/tap dancer/musician Henry LaTang while attending an adult tap class with her mother. Maureen continued tap dancing and expanded her training at the Joffrey Ballet School (ballet) from age 8-18, Broadway Dance Center (Tap-Theatre/RHYTHM style, Jazz, Hip-Hop) and was accepted to the Conservatory of Music, Division of Dance at Brooklyn College with Brooklyn Dance Theatre (modern dance) under the direction of Martha Graham prodigy June Lewis. Maureen also intensely studied Ballroom - Smooth, Latin and Flamenco.

Maureen performed extensively locally and abroad with various independent dance companies: Foot and Fiddle Dance Company & Band -lead tap dancer, drummer- Cunard Cruise Line, Tango NY - tango dancer/choreographer - woman’s tango piece: Triad Hembra. Brooklyn Tap Collective -founder. Brooklyn Performance Theatre -FAMOUS FEET- tap dancer. TV/syndicate Cosby Mysteries w/Rita Moreno -lead tango dancer-tango teacher, BBC film: Britain’s Fastest Tap Dancer - Roy Castle -tap dancer-, Giant Stadium -Field Tapper-, Annual Macy’s Tap-O-Mania -tap dancer/teacher-, Alize’ ad -Tango dancer- and many other NYC based projects.

Maureen has enjoyed teaching in Brooklyn, NYC & Westchester, as a faculty member at, The Brooklyn Performing Arts Center/Brooklyn, NY,  Stepping Out Ballroom and Latin Dance Studios/NYC, and is currently an Adjunct Faculty member at the Masters School, Dobbs Ferry, NY - Performing Arts Department where she presented dance works: Commuter Tap 2017, The Yellow Basket 2023 for the High School Dance Company performance seasons.  Maureen, aka ‘Miss Mo’ has been teaching dance and directing performances for the Village of Irvington Recreation Department since 2009 and thoroughly enjoys working with students aged 3 - 93 teaching for the children’s program, adult program and for the Irvington Senior Center.  

Maureen has always loved the drums, inspired by her brother Sean, she studied drum set at Drummer’s Collective in NYC at the age of 12 and later intensively studied Cuban folkloric drumming -conga, timbale, percussion with renowned percussionist, NYU alumnus/faculty member and Grammy winner, Daniel Sadownick. Maureen played drums and percussion in Fairyland After the Fire, The Haoles, The Escapees, Sublime Groove. Maureen is a member of multi-media NYC based band M’LUMBO since 1998 and enjoys playing in a local Irvington, NY based rock band The NOW Stories.

Maureen also has a passion for nutrition, supplements, health, alternative healing modalities, grounding, Yoga, and Ayurveda. Maureen enrolled in the IIN Integrative Nutrition Health Coach training intensive at Institute for Integrative Nutrition and graduated in September 2024. Working with people one on one to create a healthy, sustainable, personalized, care plan is one her favorite processes.
